How to make a contact sheet online

    1. Add JPG, PNG or WebP photos

Add several JPG, PNG or WebP files. Add more at any time. Files are initially sorted by filename using natural numeric order.

    2. Arrange thumbnails and filenames

Choose paper size, orientation, columns, rows and spacing. Use Move up and Move down for manual ordering, remove unwanted photos, and select a page to review.

    3. Download a contact sheet PDF or PNG

Download all pages in one PDF or save the selected page as a PNG. Use 150 DPI for a balanced result or 200 DPI for a larger output.

What is a photo contact sheet?

A contact sheet is a page of small photo previews arranged in a grid. Also called a photo proof sheet or thumbnail index, it lets you review a group of pictures without opening every original file. Use it to shortlist photos from a shoot, share a selection with someone, or keep a printable index of an image folder.

Create a contact sheet with filenames

Keep Show filenames enabled to print each source filename below its thumbnail. This makes it easier to match a chosen picture to its original file. Natural sorting places photo2 before photo10; Move up and Move down let you choose a different order. Long names are shortened to fit the cell. Turn filenames off when you want a sheet of pictures only.

Fit more photos on A4 or US Letter

Choose portrait or landscape, then set the number of columns and rows. A 3-column, 4-row layout fits 12 photos per page; a 4-column, 5-row layout fits 20. More photos continue onto additional pages. Every image keeps its proportions, so mixed portrait and landscape photos fit without cropping or stretching.

Save and print your contact sheet

Download PDF to keep all pages in one printable document. Choose Download page PNG if you need only the selected page as an image. For paper output, match your printer settings to the selected A4 or US Letter size and orientation. Use actual size or 100% scaling if you want to preserve the page layout; printer margins and settings can affect the result.

Export at 96 DPI for smaller files, 150 DPI for a balanced result, or 200 DPI for a larger sheet image. A higher export DPI does not restore detail lost from small source images or from the tool's 1,200-pixel image limit. Preview the saved output before sharing or printing.

    Supported images, quality and limits

For predictable memory use, photos are processed one at a time and reduced to at most 1,200 pixels on their longest side. Full-resolution originals are not retained by the app. Sheets are raster images, including in PDF; filenames are not searchable PDF text. Small sources may look soft at large cell sizes.

Maximum 100 images, 25 MB (25 × 1,024 × 1,024 bytes) per file, 40 megapixels and 32,768 pixels per side. Very large or unusual files may be rejected. Export is limited to 96, 150 or 200 DPI and one page canvas at a time; a many-page PDF can still require significant memory. Try fewer images or lower DPI if your browser runs out of memory.

RAW, HEIC, SVG, GIF and other formats are not supported. Animated PNG or WebP is flattened to a single browser-decoded frame. Embedded metadata and original color profiles are not preserved. EXIF orientation and color appearance depend on browser decoding. This is not a color-managed printing workflow: review the saved file and printer settings.

    Contact Sheet Maker FAQ

Is this online contact sheet maker free?

Yes. You can create and download contact sheets as PDF or PNG without payment, an account or a watermark added by this tool. Processing happens locally in your browser.

Can I make a contact sheet with filenames?

Yes. Show filenames is enabled by default. Each filename appears below its photo, shortened when needed to fit the cell. Turn it off for an image-only sheet. PDF pages are rasterized, so the printed names are not searchable text.

Can I print multiple photos on one page?

Yes. Set columns and rows to arrange several photos on one A4 or US Letter page. For example, three columns and four rows give you 12 images per page. Download the PDF and print it with the matching paper size and orientation.

    Are my images uploaded?

No. Image processing and exports happen in your browser. The app does not send selected images, filenames or metadata to a server and does not use analytics or persistent file storage. Visiting the website still generates ordinary website requests and may create hosting logs.

How many photos fit on a page?

Choose 1–8 columns and 1–10 rows: up to 80 pictures per page. Additional images continue onto another page. Empty cells on the last page remain blank.

Can I change the photo order?

Yes. Natural filename sorting places photo2 before photo10. Use each image's Move up or Move down button for custom ordering; these controls work with touch and keyboard. Adding images preserves your current order and appends the new batch.

Does a contact sheet crop my photos?

No. Every photo is fitted proportionally within its cell. Wide and tall photos can have white space around them.

What is included in a download?

PDF includes all pages at the selected DPI. PNG includes only the selected preview page. Exports are flattened onto white, and the original image files are not changed. Generated files are separate copies you choose to save.
