Terms of Service
About the service
This free browser tool decodes HEIC and HEIF photos and creates JPG or PNG copies. Processing runs locally with a WebAssembly build of libheif. A batch is limited to 40 files, each file to 50 MB and 100 megapixels. These terms describe the intended use and limitations of the service. Use the tool only if you agree to these terms.
Your files and responsibilities
You retain ownership of your files. Selecting a file does not grant the service a license to publish or reuse it. Only convert files you are entitled to use, and respect privacy, copyright and other applicable rights.
You are responsible for deciding what to share and for checking any converted image. Keep backups of important originals. Do not use the tool for unlawful purposes or to interfere with the website or other users.
Processing limitations
Only the primary image in a HEIC container is converted. Additional images, Live Photo video, depth maps, HDR gain maps and other auxiliary data are ignored. EXIF metadata, GPS location, capture date, camera information and embedded comments are not copied to the output. HDR and 10-bit sources are decoded to 8-bit color and may look different.
Very large photos can exceed the memory available to a browser tab even when they are under the published 100 megapixel limit. Building a ZIP also holds every converted file in memory, so a large batch can fail on a low-memory device; individual downloads remain available. If a file cannot be decoded or encoded, the tool reports an error instead of producing a partial image. File names are generated from the original base name and may receive a number to avoid duplicates in the same batch.
Local processing and privacy
Selected files are processed locally, as explained in the Privacy Policy. Your original file is not overwritten by the application. Any output you choose to save is a separate copy on your device.
Availability and warranties
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, to the extent permitted by applicable law. No promise is made that it will always be available, error-free, compatible with every HEIC file or suitable for a particular purpose.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, liability for losses resulting from reliance on tool results, unsupported formats or use of saved outputs is excluded. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or limits consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Third-party components and licenses
The decoder is an unmodified copy of libheif-js 1.23.5, distributed under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 3 (LGPL-3.0). It bundles the libheif library and the libde265 HEVC decoder, both under LGPL-3.0. The complete LGPL-3.0 text is provided in vendor/LIBHEIF-LICENSE, and the libde265 component notice is in vendor/LIBDE265-NOTICE.txt. The unmodified JavaScript and WebAssembly files are in the vendor directory. Upstream sources: libheif, libde265 and libheif-js.
ZIP downloads are created with fflate 0.8.3, distributed under the MIT License. The license text is in vendor/FFLATE-LICENSE. The tool does not modify these libraries. The decoder loads its WebAssembly file from this website; no remote conversion service or CDN is used.
Changes
Features and these terms may change. Updated terms apply to use after the update; they do not retrospectively change rights that arose earlier.
