Calculations and photos stay in your browser

Calculates the longest astrophotography exposure from values you enter and can read EXIF metadata, such as focal length, aperture, exposure time and image size, from a photo you choose. Selected files are read locally using browser-based code. The application does not upload your selected files, their contents, filenames or extracted metadata to a server.

Values typed into the calculator are used only in the page and are not sent to a server. The website server delivers the HTML, styles and scripts. Choosing a photo starts local reading of its metadata, not a file upload; the photo is not modified. No account is required.

Temporary data and saved copies

File data and metadata may be held temporarily in browser memory while the tool runs and displays its results. Clear the file, select another file or leave the page to release the application's references. This does not promise immediate physical erasure from browser or operating-system memory.

This tool does not create or save output files. Your browser may cache website assets; these assets do not contain your selected file.

Cookies, analytics and storage

Calculator values, files and results are not retained in cookies, local storage or IndexedDB. The website may use Cloudflare Insights for traffic analytics. This tool page's security policy blocks third-party scripts and network connections from the page, and calculator values, file contents and extracted metadata are not sent to any analytics service. The tools do not build a database of files or device fingerprints.

Website requests and hosting logs

Loading any website sends normal connection information to its server and any configured hosting infrastructure. This can include your IP address, requested URL, request time, browser headers and referrer information. The hosting server or a configured proxy may record access or security logs.

Log collection, retention, access and hosting location depend on the deployment's server configuration. The browser application does not control those settings. The local-processing statements above concern selected files and their metadata; they do not mean that visiting the website creates no network requests or server logs.

Information shown on screen

Selected photos and the metadata shown on screen may contain private or sensitive information. Be mindful of screen sharing, screenshots and other people with access to your device. This tool does not determine whether you have permission to process or share a file.

Links to other websites, such as the source of the NPF rule, open third-party websites only when you follow them. Those websites have their own privacy practices and receive ordinary browser connection information. Selected file contents and metadata are not included in the application's documentation links.

Your choices

You can use the calculator without an account and without choosing a photo. You can clear the selected photo and close the page at any time. Browser caching and history can be managed through your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

This policy describes the supplied version of the tool. Its wording may be updated when the tool's data handling changes. Changes to hosting, analytics or other services must be reflected in the policy before they are introduced.
